Data Reorganization Standard DARPA is sponsoring an effort to look at high performance
collective data reorganization API's and protocols, a complement and supplement to MPI/RT.

IETF PacketWay Standard

Several groups are working together to specify a high performance system area network (SAN) protocol,
including security, for interoperability, low latency, and high bandwidth. This is a key technology for
providing routing to support inter-MPI/RT implementation communication.

VI Architecture (Intel/Compaq/Microsoft)

A large group of industry interests is producing a SAN datalink layer specification (MAC + LLC)
called the Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA). VIA supports channels, and scalability.
With articulation of QoS on these channels, VIA could be an implementation mechanism
for MPI/RT channels on a SAN network, with PacketWay supporting inter-SAN routing.
